California Science Center Review (2 of 4) – Rooftop Sea Life exhibit

One of the very best science centers we ever visited was the California Science Center in Los Angeles, California. It’s not merely huge, comprehensive, and amazing, it’s also free. Everything but the IMAX, the real, actual Space Shuttle, and perhaps a visting exhibit are included in this low, low price of free.

You could easily spend two full days here, and we tried to, but here’s something really fun. They have a sea life exhibit that’s simply amazing.

Unlike everywhere else we’ve ever been, it’s not in the basement, but on the roof.

Do you understand the logistics that go into putting a k’jillion gallons of water on the roof of the fourth floor?

And it’s not some piddly stuff with a few tanks. It’s massive, deep tanks with saltwater critters, which you can view from above as well as below, as this video shows.

Even if this wasn’t a free museum (which it is,) and it had nothing else but these sea life creatures (which it doesn’t,) it would be WELL worth the visit.

The place was so big and amazing we had to break our reviews into four parts:
1 – Overview.
2 – Rooftop Sea Life exhibit (this one!)
3 – The Earthquake Experience.
4 – The 50-foot lady.
