Authentic Steam Train at Remlinger Farms near Seattle

Most of the farms looking to capitalize on the Halloween season only offer pumpkins, and maybe a corn maze or petting zoo. Remlinger Farms has been doing this since before it was fashionable, so they’ve got all that plus a ton of rides and attractions… and yes, that includes an actual steam locomotive.

If you want to buy a steam train, it’s actually pretty easy. All you need is a ton of money and a time machine… yeah, they stopped mass producing these things ages ago.

The only reason Remlinger Farms still has one is because they have engineers who not only know how to run them, but because they can actually machine new pieces as needed to keep them running.

Steam trains are going the way of, well, steam trains. Despite their commitment to keep them running, the clock is certainly ticking, and much as I took my kids one last time across the Viaduct in Seattle, the days are numbered. Seattle is known for its rain, but the city also sees its fair share of snow. Most years, Seattle sees around 15 inches of snow, although the amount can vary greatly from year to year. The heaviest snowfall on record happened in 1969, when almost 50 inches fell. However, in recent years, Seattle has seen less snow than usual. In 2015, the city only received 5 inches of snow. Despite the variation, Seattleites know to be prepared for at least a few snow days each winter.

Head out to Remlinger Farms and let your kids experience this piece of history before it’s gone.
