Remember dollar theaters? Remember how that used to be a thing, but they’re all basically gone now? Well apparently not, because Federal Gateway Movies 8 is still doing it, and at just $2 smackers a head.
No matinees, no discounts for old or young, just a flat $2. Are you alive and going in? Then it’s $2 please. Continue Reading

When summer came, the boys were due for haircuts. We let each of them choose what they wanted. Some choose more liberally than others. So I ask you, would you buy this bald kid a meal?
His oldest brother has no hair whatsoever, not even eyebrows or eyelashes, so maybe that played into it. Dominic chose for the summer to shear his head bald, and we let him. Continue Reading

What a fun diversion from our rigorous schedule. We had just over an hour to kill so we did something none of us had in decades. We paddle-boated around the pond.
Just behind the Boise zoo in the Julia Davis Park in downtown Boise is a quiet corner where you can soak in some sun, have some fun and check out the wildlife too. Continue Reading

We recently bought a fantastic new camera, and it uses an SD card. It came with an 8Gb card, which is wholly inadequate for what we do, especially when shooting video. So we stepped it up.
For some reason, a MicroSD card is cheaper than its significantly larger cousin, the standard SD card. Perhaps this is due to high demand in the phone and tablet markets, or maybe it’s just electronics demons trying to drive us mad. Continue Reading

One thing we’ll do to get some cheap grub on the road is find the nearest Costco. They’re practically everywhere, and they’ve got amazingly cheap and delicious food.
For example, be bought three polish dogs (with three drinks, including free refills,) plus two slices of pizza and a churro… for about $10. That’s just ridiculous. Continue Reading

Who doesn’t love the Mac & Cheese? Sure, the lactose intolerant, but we’ll ignore mom for this one. As a ginger, she’s no stranger to being wonderfully unique. She should be all about the cheesiest of tasty stuff, so that’s her problem, not ours.
So you know about Mac & Cheese, and maybe your kids love it, but we can show you how to take it from “good” to
“the best food ever!” Continue Reading

We’re not sure if it’s because our parents love us, or because they want us to die, but the daddy-man bought us a trampoline for Christmas last year. Buying it was bad enough, but he had to build it with the help of some neighbors, so that was even worse.
If this was 1970 or 1980, it would be a done deal. It would just prove that you love your kids, but now there’s the whole “danger to kids” thing to bear in mind, but it’s really not all that bad. Continue Reading
