Balboa Park in San Diego has something for literally everyone

That’s not hyperbole, Balboa Park is 1,200 acres with 16 museums and countless free things to see… oh, and some of the museums are free too. Some every day, others on select days to enhance cultural appreciation for the ultra-budget conscious consumer.

Balboa Park has open space areas, natural vegetation zones, green belts, gardens, walking paths, and has more museums than you could shake a stick at. There are several theaters including those of the open-air variety, and it’s home to the world-famous San Diego Zoo.

We haven’t been to the zoo just yet, but it’s on our list. We only had three-days in San Diego last year (and three-days in total over our years of touring the state,) so we’ve had to prioritize.

Check out the electric carts, the countless “street” performers, if you can call them that when they aren’t on actual streets, and if you’re an aerospace buff like me, the SR-71 on display outside the Air & Space museum… I mean, those things weren’t just the kings of the sky when they flew from the 60s through the 80s, but there’s never been an air-breathing bird that’s bested their stats to this day.

You could easily spend days in this park, and next year, we hope to do just that.
