Review: Washington State Beaches Are Great

The tide was low, so a sandbar formed off the coast. Some stomped out through the surf to get there, but our parents told us "no way!" so we just took pictures instead.

Washington State has more beaches than you could shake a chunk of driftwood at. It’s a pretty beachy state, really, and if you head to the beach you’re going to have a pretty good time.

I wouldn’t say you should go into the water. It’s extremely cold every month of the year, but as long as you stay dry, it’s pretty darn nice, with plenty of lively stuff to see.

What a beautiful beach! We had a great time exploring it.

At the beach you may see ducks, geese, jelly fish, tiny crabs and too many more critters to name. Did I say starfish? Well those too. Clams? You bet. Seaweed? Well, it’s a bit gross, but yes, and in spades.

The photos below were taken in Des Moines, Washington, in a neighborhood called Redondo. This particular beach is great because it’s a historic site with tons of placards littered about to tell you why everything is important. It’s really pretty awesome in that regard.

So below you’ll find our video review, followed by a slew of images we shot on the big day of our visit. These were the first images show with our new camera, so please feel free to post comments below assessing the awesomeness or lack thereof of these pictures.

Here is our video review

Here are our photos we took of the beach

We saw these geese's's's's just hanging out. When we tried to chase them down, they honked us down into submission. I guess we both know who owns the beach.

From the pier we could see all kinds of aquatic animals, though almost all of them were Jelly Fish.

Us on the tidal area at low tide. Pretty awesome and pretty fun.

This is Mama Chops. She's a real stickler for rules, but we love her like nothing else in the world... wait, what's that in her glasses we see?

This super-close-up shows Dad in the reflection, as well as the two primary journalist juniors... guess there's no hiding when there are cameras around.

There's a very, very long pier extending out into the water. Plenty of people fishing, but also a bunch of people jogging, which is also kind of weird.
