If you haven’t heard of this game, don’t be surprised. It’s not an official title, and it’s one of the most difficult to track down. If you can find it, and you can convince your Wii to play it, you’re in store for a whole new “New Super Mario Brothers” experience, brought to you by the good folks that hacked it, cracked it, and put it back together in truly bizarre ways.
So if you’ve played the New Super Mario Brothers, and you finished it, you might be interested in some more levels of the same game. Imagine all new levels written by users and fans, but harder than before, and without any of the traditional Mario rules applied.
There are levels (like 1-1) where you can easily get more than 100 free guys. There are more hidden rooms than before, and more enemies. There are fish that fly in the air and on any given level you might find water, lava, pipes, and even penguins.
You might encounter 10 different enemies in the course of 5 minutes of game play, and you might experience 100 of them. And most levels have far more mushrooms than before, and of far greater variety. You could find a fire suit, penguin suit and propeller hat all within the same screen. Sounds like it would make it easier, but it doesn’t. Let no one kid you, this is a much harder version than the original.
Since it’s not an official release, and it’s drawn from the work of many unrelated authors, the flow is less than logical, and there are places where you’ll get stuck due to a lack of beta testing.
Red Shifter contributed a bunch of levels, including 4-1, 5-3, 8-2, 8-Tower, 9-5, 9-7, and is among the top content creators for this game. (Skawo96 also claims credit for two levels.)
Red Shifter made the levels and freely distributed them, but took offense to their inclusion in this unauthorized title, even though Casper, who was responsible for the compilation and release, has not profited and appears to have intended no malice.
And if you’re a developer reading this, consider putting out a new ISO with even better, more playable levels.
It would be difficult for me to tell you where to get this game, or how to play it. You would have to have unlocked your Wii with a Homebrew channel and added something like a NeoGamma loader. It’s a terribly complicated process and there is some debate as to how legal my sharing of this information would be, so I’ll direct you back to Google for that.
