Lazy Afternoon in Boise? Do the Paddle Boats

What a fun diversion from our rigorous schedule. We had just over an hour to kill so we did something none of us had in decades. We paddle-boated around the pond.

Just behind the Boise zoo in the Julia Davis Park in downtown Boise is a quiet corner where you can soak in some sun, have some fun and check out the wildlife too.

paddle-boats-lead30 boats are available (24 pontoon-style 3-seater models and six 2-seater boats designed as swans, pelicans and other waterfowl.

And it’s affordable too. $8 for the half-hour (which was enough time for us) and $12 for an hour. So we got our party of six on two boats for a hair over 30-minutes for $16. Totally worth it.

While paddling you are welcome to throw bread to the geese and ducks, and if you haven’t thought to bring any, you can buy popcorn to do the trick instead.

The waters are stocked with fish too. We saw trout, carp, a single koi of about 24-inches, and a ton of smaller fish we couldn’t identify.

It’s fun. We recommend it.
